March QT Testimony - Shepherdess Paulina

Praise the Lord! I had the privilege of sharing my QT 2nd team experience from March 2024 during our recent sharing time at Rudy's. I am immensely grateful to Pastor Jeung for initiating daily QT within our congregation this year, starting back in January alongside our Daniel Fast. I didn’t join the 1st QT team in Febuary since our routine was praying together and then going to the kitchen to pack our lunches.  Though the journey wasn’t easy, particularly with my work schedule—commuting from Austin to Georgetown Monday through Friday—I initially attempted to pursue daily Quiet Time on my own with my husband. However, I found myself primarily listening to QT recordings on YouTube during my commutes or reading my husband's QT reflections, rather than engaging in personal reflection. Eventually, I decided to join the 2nd QT team for March.

Work had become increasingly challenging due to the high turnover rates and the constant need to cover for other positions' duties at our clinic. In the midst of these difficulties, I found solace in sharing my burdens with my husband, our House Church, and the members of my village meetings. Their prayers and unwavering support became a source of strength for me during trying times.

The absence of a supervising nurse for a prolonged period of nine months added to the strain. Eventually, among the three Resident Nurses, two departed for various reasons, leaving me as the sole remaining RN to shoulder the responsibilities. Despite feeling overwhelmed, I continued to trust in the Lord's provision and sought comfort in the support of my loved ones and community.

In February of this year, when I asked about my annual evaluation to a new RN supervisor, I discovered that she was overwhelmed due to ongoing staffing shortages and that she was doing a lot to filling the gap. Consequently, the evaluation was handled by our business manager, who seemed disconnected from the clinical aspects of our work. This resulted in a generic rating of "3" across all competencies, leaving me feeling overlooked and unappreciated. Despite being with the clinic for only two years, there was a nine-month period without an RN manager after she quit. Among the three RNs, two left, leaving me as the sole RN until a new supervisor arrived in September 2023. I expressed to my house church members my intention to leave once another RN was hired, ensuring the clinic had at least one phone triage nurse.

Each day after work, as I weighed the option of giving my two-week notice, my husband would empathize and support me, even agreeing that resigning might be the best course of action. However, after our QT and prayer time the following morning, both he and I felt a sense of patience and a tug in my heart not to take that step on that particular day. Despite the sense of being undervalued by management, I consistently reminded myself that my worth ultimately comes from the Lord, not from earthly recognition. Additionally, I found solace in the appreciation expressed by doctors, co-workers, and patients on a daily basis. Their recognition and gratitude brought a sense of fulfillment to my work, reinforcing my commitment to persevere despite the challenges.

Engaging in Evergreen Church's March QT sessions, alongside QT In, and immersing myself in the stories of Jesus' miracles and teachings about the Cross and Resurrection, brought me profound comfort and perspective. Reflecting on what Jesus wanted from me each day and considering what my personal cross meant, as well as experiencing the daily resurrection in my life, became pivotal points of contemplation. Through this journey, I came to a realization about the root of my desire for acknowledgment and accolades: pride. I was challenged to embrace humility and place my trust firmly in God's plan for my life. This recognition allowed me to shift my focus from seeking worldly validation to finding fulfillment in serving God faithfully each day.

I'm immensely grateful for Pastor Jeung, Mrs. Jeung, and my fellow brothers and sisters who have supported me through their prayers and shared daily QT readings in our QT Kakao Talk Room. Their encouragement has been a true blessing to me.

Special thanks to my husband, Cyrus, for his unwavering support and daily QT postings in our family KakaoTalk chat room, as well as to Shepheredess Mi Sun Kim for her consistent daily QT contributions in our village KakaoTalk chat room.

May we all continue to grow in faith and obedience as we journey together in Christ.
